Ex C [Olof Ryding, mail 2017-02-16: According to the original description, the holotype of Tragopogon afghanicus should indeed be deposited in our herbarium (C), but I have not been able to find any material. The type specimen is not either mentioned in our databases or in our old card index of types. On the other hand, according to JSTOR (http://plants.jstor.org/), there is a type of this species (W19560003032) in the Wien herbarium (W). I guess that this type is the specimen that was supposed to be deposited in C. I have heard that the two co-authors, M.Køie (at C) and K.H.Rechinger (at W), fell out with each other. After that, Rechinger may have kept the plants that Køie sent to him when he wrote the Compositae in Symbolae Afghanicae.]
