Slender culms of 4 or 5 in a clump, 3-4 m tall, weak, supported by shrubs and small trees. New culm leaves: sheaths deep purple; blades reflexed. Leaf petioles purple, geniculate, causing the blades to hang. Locally common. Evidently young population.
