Clumps of ca. 10 culms in the shaded forest, the culms very thin-walled, at first erect, then arching. Culm leaves: purplish-green with a white waxy bloom, becoming stramineous and shed at time of branching; blade green, reflexed, caducous. Branch complement: 3 or 4 branches. The clumps are common in one spot of the forest and represent a young population as the culms are still small and earliest ones from the seedling stage are still present.
