Habitat

Abundant in forest, dominant plant under the canopy.

Habitus

up to 15 m tall. Growing in small clumps, brances overarching and hanging over vegetation. Culms hollow, up to 3 cm in diameter, scabrous, culm sheaths deciduous with reflewed, deciduous blade. Many branches per node.
