Habitat

Forest on white sand, property of Lewis and Iva Lee Hartman.

Habitus

Bamboo abundant at edge of forest with 30-40 culms in a clump, these 10-15m tall, 2.5cm diam., erect and with thin pendent tips, but the plants not dependent on trees for support as in many other species of Merostachys. New culms purplish-green, scaberulous. Culm leaves: sheath white, lanate, falling at time of branching; blade purplish-green, reflexed. 50-70 branches per node. A few culms in flower.
